Cloning the classics
Cloning the classics is my internet homage to the great classic arcade games from the Golden Age of Video Arcade Games
From the late 70s video arcade games had started to evolved from simple black and white vector drawings with basic sound effects up to multi colored animated sprites with synthesized voice samples.
Even with these advances in hardware these classic arcade games still had to rely on solid gameplay to draw the gamers in. It is often a mix of nostalgia and the intense focus on gameplay that draws gamers back to play these classic arcade games once more.
With the advances in hardware, software and tools available today it is quite possible to revisit these classic arcade games in new formats. My goal is to document, design and code faithful clones of my favorite arcade games as Java Applets.
